As I slip on my headphones
I sink into that magical place
Ages apart from this working man's reality
Here, I no longer worry if my best is good enough.
I simply know it is.

No more do I worry
About 'how I'll pay' or 'who am I?'
Or if it matters that some days are better than others.

As I slip on my headphones
I travel to that beautiful, far away place
Where it doesn't matter if anyone understands my language
The universal code is humanity.

A smile with your soul
Is worthy payment in the ancient eyes
Of this blissful oasis's handlers.

As I slip on my headphones
The chaos and cruelties of my mind
Promptly fall to order, waiting for their number to be called.
I take a deep breath
Acquainting myself to these exotic things:

The magic and beauty that is so close to extinction from this world
Love and magic, words not foreign here, not needing even to be spoken.
And then....I begin to paint.
